On Friday 19th May 2014, The Cloud Communications Council hosted its Spring Forum at the Redwood Group’s UK headquarters at Radius Court, Bracknell. The event gathered representatives from 12 different local authorities across the country for a series of discussions and workshops centred around the theme of integration.

Throughout the day, delegates shared their experiences of communications and information siloes, debated the necessity and feasibility of connecting these systems, and examined ways to successfully effect this integration.

Breakout sessions discussed best practice ideas for local authority data security.

Attendees also participated in a series of practical hands-on workshops about integrating cloud communications with information systems, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), in Radius Court’s Customer Experience Centre (CEC).

The day had opened with a keynote speech from Martin Taylor, Chairman of the Cloud Communications Council. Taylor commented:

“This Forum sparked a lot of constructive discussion between council members. It was particularly interesting to hear some diverging opinions and experiences about how councils use information systems; in some cases adoption and usage of the same systems was polarised, especially around CRM platforms.

“We will now look forward to hosting our Autumn Forum, where we will consider the pressing matter of shared services.”
