Bracknell, 5th December 2013: This morning, Redwood Technologies is to hit the airwaves once again as the business features in a televised BBC South report on economic recovery in the UK. Broadcast to coincide with British Chancellor George Osborne’s Autumn Statement, the BBC report will gauge opinions from select businesses on the frontline of the UK economic revival. Redwood was asked to feature in the report as an example of a fast-growth, knowledge-based business operating in the Thames Valley heartland of the UK IT industry.

Filming for the report took place at Redwood’s UK head office, Radius Court. A BBC crew captured footage of the company’s state-of-the-art Customer Experience Centre in action, whilst Business Correspondent for BBC South, Alistair Fee, conducted an in-depth interview with Martin Taylor, Redwood Director, to hear his thoughts on the British economy. Taylor commented on Redwood’s success throughout the national downturn and on into the UK’s subsequent recovery, posting headcount growth of 50% since 2010, growing turnover every year since 2008 and exporting its award-winning technology and Intellectual Property around the world.

Taylor comments: “We are now in the midst of a real UK economic recovery. All the key indicators are up. Whilst this recovery is initially more pronounced in the Thames Valley, and London and the Southeast, there is increasing upward momentum that will make itself felt across the country over the next twelve months. The post-2008 recession made things difficult for all businesses, but there are always growth opportunities in a downturn. For us, the recession and austerity proved the spur for the widespread adoption of cloud-based communications.”

“Real economic recovery also means a rebalanced UK economy, and a key part of that rebalancing is exports. The past year in particular has seen our cloud business move into international mode, with major platform investments and successes in Ireland and the Netherlands, as well as further afield in India. Now we are exporting technology to the USA.”

Sections of the report are to be broadcast throughout the day and will be available online shortly afterwards.
