Sean Taylor – Director

Sean Taylor joined the Redwood Technologies Board of Directors in October 1994. His role was to head up the company’s new product development and positioning strategy. His initial involvement was to help formulate an architecture for Redwood’s range of communications integration products. In recent years he has been primarily involved in establishing the worldwide expansion of Redwood’s marketing and distribution channels for its cloud and customer-premise solutions.
During his tenure, Sean has helped Redwood become one of the world’s leading companies in Communications Integration.
Sean has nearly 20 years of product development and strategic planning within the IT and Telecommunications sectors. He has experience in a wide range of markets such as Finance, Public Sector, Online, Retail, Telecommunications and Utilities.
Before joining Redwood, Sean worked in software engineering for Rhetorex Inc, a specialist company in the field of Computer Telephony Integration, in the UK and then in the USA. Rhetorex was a pioneer in the field of ‘open standards’ communication, its core engineers having developed the first PC-based and DSP-based multi-channel computer telephony boards.
Sean has a BSc (Hons) degree in Electronics and Computer Science from King’s College, University of London.
He is a member of the CBI SME Council using his twenty years’ experience as a business owner and director to advise on how to overcome the challenges faced by SMEs today.
Martin Taylor – Director
Martin Taylor is Redwood’s Sales and Marketing Director and is primarily responsible for the development of new overseas markets and key strategic accounts.
After graduating from King’s College, University of London, with a BSc(Hons) in Business Management, Martin worked as a futures market analyst in Asia. He returned to the UK to help launch Redwood Technologies in 1993, driving international market development and driving Redwood’s products into new industry sectors through innovative applications of its core technology.
Martin was a pioneer in prepaid billing for deregulated telecoms operators in the 1990s. This path of development led directly to today’s RTInstantBilling product set, which provides the financial process engine behind millions of mobile, IP and machine-to-machine transactions around the world.
More recently, Martin has applied his creative skills to devising new interactive enterprise applications for media, marketing and retail, leveraging the consumer’s mobile device to deliver mass personalisation and major new transaction capabilities.
A regular speaker at international conferences, Martin sits on the CBI Intellectual Property Committee and on the Advisory Board of the Department of Management, King’s College London.
Jim Taylor – Director
Jim Taylor joined Redwood Technologies in February 1997 as Business Development Director. In this role he is responsible for developing plans for product direction and new sales channels.
Prior to joining Redwood Technologies, Jim spent nine years as Managing Director of Rhetorex Europe Limited. The European operation led the company’s growth into digital communications and ISDN and ultimately represented 30% of the company’s business.
Jim has over 30 years experience within the field of telecommunications. Before joining Rhetorex, Jim held a number of positions including Technical Director at Aircall plc, Technical Services Manager for Fairchild Test Systems, Quality Assurance Manager at Ericsson Limited and Director of Reliability and Quality Assurance at Motorola Semiconductor.
Jim has an HNC in Electronics and is a Member of the IEEE.
Ron Perry – Director
Ron Perry is Technical Director responsible for the technology strategy that provides new and existing product for domestic and international use. Ron has nearly 25 years’ software development and senior management experience within the telecommunications sector.
Prior to joining Redwood Technologies in 1995, Ron was co-founder and Technical Director at Rhetorex Inc, responsible for the hardware and software development of all products including OEM. As Technical Director, Ron took the company from start-up to annual sales in excess of $35 million.
Before joining Rhetorex, Ron spent two years as Software Developer at Seagate Technologies responsible for the development of non-PC vendor and non-operating system specific BIOS software. Prior to Seagate, Ron spent four years at Vynet Inc as Principal Software Engineer and four years as Communications Engineer at Hillbloom Inc.
Ron has a BSc in Quantitative Methods from the University of Massachusetts, USA.
Martin Fung – Director
Martin Fung joined Redwood Technologies in 1995. Based at the company’s US office in the heart of Silicon Valley, Martin leads Redwood’s Development Engineering arm, which is responsible for ongoing core technology advancement. Among many achievements, Martin oversaw the 3-year platform software programme for Redwood’s high density VoIP blade.
Prior to joining Redwood, Martin held a senior technical position at Rhetorex Inc, a specialist company in the field of voice processing hardware development. Rhetorex was a pioneer in the field of ‘open’ voice processing, its core engineers having developed the first PC based voice processing board and then the first DSP based multi-channel voice processing board.
Martin holds BSc (Hons) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, USA.
