Redwood’s local and international focus
We are proud of our strong Berkshire roots, but the international nature of our business inevitably gives us a broad world view. Redwood’s charitable and community focused activities reflect both global and local aspects of our business and our heritage.
Berkshire Community Foundation
Redwood has created a dedicated fund to support charities and voluntary groups in the Bracknell district. In partnership with the Berkshire Community Foundation, the company has established the Redwood Technologies Grassroots Fund, which makes grants to support a wide range of local initiatives and community organisations.
Through the Grassroots Grants scheme, the UK government matches donations to the Fund pound-for-pound. It’s an excellent way for the Foundation to double the benefit it gains from Redwood’s contributions. Launched in June 2010, the Fund had grown to a total of £40,000 by the end of the year.
“Berkshire is a prosperous county, but there are pockets of real, often unseen, deprivation here,” says Sean Taylor, Managing Director for Redwood Technologies. “The Berkshire Community Foundation has an excellent track record of helping local people to help themselves and each other, ensuring a steady flow of vital funds straight to the places that need them most. The work of the Foundation has made, and will continue to make, a genuine difference to local people’s lives.”
The British Red Cross
The Red Cross is one of the front-line relief organisations in the world’s trouble spots and disaster areas. For the past five years, teams from Redwood Technologies have supported its work by taking part in an annual fund-raising clay-pigeon shoot, organised by the Thames Valley branch. Redwood clients are teamed with the companies’ own sharpshooters, with directors Sean and Martin Taylor as hosts, at the Royal Berkshire School of Shooting in Pangbourne.
Team support
When you employ highly motivated people, you can expect them to lead full and rewarding lives. Many members of the Redwood team get involved in their own voluntary and charitable activities and we are happy to support them whenever we can.
